4 ways coffee will be your hangover cure over the holiday period

It's that time of year again. 'Tis the season for many a hangover. If it's not eggnog at the office party it's mulled wine with the dreaded in-laws.

Then, just when you think you've weathered the storm, New Year's Eve rolls around and you have to go through it all over again. But, that's OK - here are four ways coffee will be your hangover cure over the holiday period.

1. The old fashioned way

There's nothing worse than your Christmas party falling on a Wednesday night (you want to punch whoever came up with that bright idea). You need an instant hit of caffeine in liquid form that you can nurse for the next 20 minutes as your stomach's not quite ready to hold large quantities of anything just yet. You need an old fashioned, quality double long black and everything's going to be OK. Probably best to hold back on the milk in this case too.

2. For your nose

Just when you feel as though you can't move and getting out off the couch is the biggest challenge you'll ever have to face in your entire life, your aunt decides to put a pot of coffee on. That strong, intense scent just wafts passed your nose like a cartoon and before you know it you're peeling yourself off the couch and helping yourself to a pot and ready to take on the world..... sort of.

3. Iced coffee

With a combo of central heating and excessive drinking it's not uncommon to wake up in an absolute sauna, completely drenched in sweat. In this case the last thing you want is something boiling hot. Make a quality pot of coffee and whilst it's brewing grab the ice cube tray out of the freezer and take a couple of paracetamols. Then proceed to make your self the greatest iced-coffee known to man (with lots of sugar and lots of ice).

4. Hair of the dog

For the hardcore, sometimes it's best to fight fire with fire, so what better way to do that by carrying on drinking. There'll definitely be a few bottles leftover from Christmas or New Year so you might as well have something caffeine-filled that tastes good - like a coffee based liquor such as Tia Maria, Kahlua or (if your stomach's ready for something creamy) Bailey's. Nobody could ever accuse you of being a light weight after that.

From everyone here at the Office Coffee Company. we want to wish you a happy New Year!
