Let's get involved in Fairtrade Fortnight!

Fairtrade Fortnight runs from 26 February to 11 March 2018 and offers everyone the opportunity to do their bit to support the farmers and growers in developing countries.

The Office Coffee Company is proud to share the values of the Fairtrade Foundation and promotes a variety of Fairtrade products in its Fairtrade Collection. There are several ways you can help promote the Fairtrade movement throughout this fortnight and assist in providing essential income for low paid farmers and workers around the World.

About Fairtrade

Fairtrade works with consumers, businesses and campaigners to obtain better trading conditions, prices and working conditions for farmers in developing countries. The Fairtrade mission is to connect disadvantaged farmers in farflung corners of the globe to promote fairer prices and trading conditions. This empowers farmers and producers to tackle poverty and achieve greater control of their daily lives. Fairtrade sets a number of trading standards, which include minimum prices and worker protection. All Fairtrade products carry the Fairtrade logo and are easily identifiable.

Over 1.65 million producers and workers operated in certified Fairtrade producer organisations in 2014/15, with women comprising 26 percent of this total. There are currently 1,226 Fairtrade certified producer organisations operating in 74 different countries across the globe.

Ways to Support Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight is aimed at highlighting trade and fair trading across the globe. Following and sharing the Fairtrade mission on social media throughout the campaign period will help to spread the word further. So, take steps to follow the Fairtrade organisation today and start making a difference to the lives of poor farmers around the world.

You can host a Fairtrade Feast or coffee morning at work during the fortnight by serving a collection of Fairtrade drinks and goodies and talking to colleagues and friends about the importance of opting for Fairtrade produce, wherever possible. Share your images and comments about your feast on Twitter or Instagram using #FairtradeFeast or #FairtradeFortnight.

You can support Fairtrade Fortnight by making your snacks and drinks Fairtrade throughout the period. Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Co-op all stock Fairtrade produce. Sharing your snack choice with followers on your social media accounts will create further impact.

There are a host of ways in which you can illustrate your support for the Fairtrade mission, and the Fairtrade Foundation is happy to provide speakers at events you plan to organise. Find out more on the Fairtrade website.
